Editorial policy
Open Regional Journal aims to make regional geography clear, specific and fair. We separate established information from interpretation, make uncertainty visible and correct errors when they are brought to our attention.
Accuracy and context
We check names, descriptions and geographic claims against suitable sources before publication. When a term has more than one meaning, or a boundary depends on context, we explain the distinction rather than presenting one definition as universal. Articles should make their scope clear and avoid claims broader than the material supports.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for readers, not to secure a favourable mention or placement. A partnership does not buy control over independent editorial coverage. If a commercial relationship is relevant to a piece, readers will be told plainly.
Corrections
If you spot a factual error or an unclear description, contact us with the article title and the passage in question. We review specific, checkable concerns and amend published material when warranted. Significant changes should be identified in the article so readers can see what was corrected.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid or partner-supported material is labelled clearly at the point where readers encounter it and kept distinct from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; where that is the case, the image will be identified as AI-generated. Illustrations are not evidence for a geographic claim.
A region is more than a line on a map
We look at the land, names, borders and connections that give regions their character. Start with one visible detail, then follow what it can tell you.
